Apple picking

October

We have 10 apple trees at the moment (a mixture of standard and dwarf) plus 10 small cordon apple trees, with 12 varieties in total. This variety means that different trees are ripening at different times which is making picking the fruit that much easier. ‘Discovery’ was the first to ripen here and was very sweet and unblemished, then some of the cordons. We’re now in early October and need to make haste to pick the rest as it finishes ripening, before the first frost, which usually comes some time in November.
